Is anyone else concerned about security in our workplace? I'm not talking about times of the day when the building is well lighted and fully staffed. I'm talking about the night, when office space is virtually empty and only the production and warehouse are occupied.
Anyone can walk in the building 24/7, whether they have an ID badge or not. There's nothing to prevent unauthorized entry. What's to keep someone from coming in and taking merchandise from the retail or warehouse areas? Ever walk off and leave something valuable at your desk? Ever wonder if it's going to be there in the morning? Do you even have someplace in your work area where you can lock up valuables?
Have you ever sat down at your desk and thought things had been moved around? That someone had been using your computer? And weren't there about 15 cookies left in the box in the drawer last night where there are only 5 this morning?
Do you feel safe walking from/to your car if you leave work or arrive for work in the dark?
What if someone got fired and they were really angry about it and decided to strike back at GTM thinking that the risks of being caught were low. They could vandalize a good chunk of unoccupied space, maybe get on a computer and delete some important company files. Gosh, what if they found a computer that Imagine was running on and canceled orders? Heck, what if they just walked in the employee entrance in broad daylight and started shooting anything that moved?
What if a gang of crooks decided that there were enough people in the building late at night that it might be worth their while to hold them at gunpoint while taking all their cash, jewelry, and electronics?
Sorry if I disturbed you with this post. These things happening are probably very unlikely. We've really only had a few minor incidents that might have been prevented by better building security. What are the odds of you being a victim in one of the above scenarios? Probably small. Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it at all.
